A public listening series · Mexico City

Each session takes one mechanism of recorded music and plays it end to end, in a single room.

Music Eats Itself is a public listening series on how recorded music transforms, recycles, and remembers itself: a fragment turned into an engine for a thousand tracks, a familiar song re-sung until its meaning reverses, two records forced together until they realize they were always one. Each of those recurring moves is a mechanism.

Method

Each session begins with a named mechanism. Works are gathered for and against it, then ordered to make the mechanism audible from start to finish. The sequence is a proposal. Exceptions and failures are noted. The work is entered in the index.

→ The index is published as the work develops.
